DIY Yarn Wrapped LED Candles

Once again while browsing Pinterest one night I came across a DIY project that I just had to do. After taking a look at the website in which this DIY originated, Design Improvised quickly made it to my bookmarks bar and is one that I now frequently visit.

When we moved we had purchased a gorgeous new kitchen table that I knew needed a beautiful yet simple centerpiece for. My table seats 8 so I have plenty of space to create a beautiful display that will be perfect year round. I couldn't wait to try this DIY.

When I finished I was excited and impressed at how easy it was to create such gorgeous LED candles. I loved the idea of not having to burn a real candle on a surface that would always have so much activity around it, and with  my plans of purchasing a tablecloth, I knew that the LED candles were a perfect match.

On thing that I do have to say before showing you this DIY is PLEASE do not try this with real candles. Just don't.

For This Project You Will Need:

3-4 LED Candles in Various Sizes (I picked mine up at Walmart)
1-4 Colors of Thin Yarn
Hot Glue Gun

Begin by deciding which size candle you want wrapped with which color of yarn and group them together (to make it easier on yourself). Plug in your hot glue gun and wait for it to get hot.

You will then place a small dab of hot glue on the LED candle where you choose to begin your wrapping. Give it a few seconds to solidify before you start to wrap. Wrap the yarn around the candle until you are satisfied with the thickness of the wrapped yarn. You will then use your hot glue gun again to add a tiny line of glue to the back of the wrapped yarn and place the end of your strand along it  to hold it in place. Where ever you ended your wrap will be the back of your candle so that the end of the yarn won't show! Repeat those steps for all of your candles until you are finished, then place where ever you choose to display!

Your end result is a gorgeous centerpiece that will look fantastic year round, or you could remove the yarn and change it up a few times of year! I even place it on my outdoor table for when we're entertaining outside!

Have fun!

  2. I love candles, I knit and have lots of yarn that I could use & I love crafts. This sounds like the perfect craft for me. I especially love the candle that is wrapped with the multicolored yarn. I could see changing the look of the candles by season, wrapping the original yarn colors with Christmas colored yarn or for Spring with pastels. Thank you for being inspired and sharing with us.
