Countdown to the Gift Guide: Hardcandy/Gumdrop

Hard Candy and Gumdrop Cases are premium fashion brands that target the sophisticated, fashion-savvy yet practical Apple user demographic, but they also have cases for other phones and tablets as well.  They are experienced, but also bring a fresh perspective, innovative designs and fast execution to the business.  The cases offer premium protection, and their designs are exceptionally eye-catching and functional, making them unique.

I love my iPhone, and feel it is important to protect it the best I can with a good sturdy case, I am hard on my phone so I want/need something with great protection.  There aren’t that many great cases out there, so when Hard Candy/Gumdrop Cases asked me to do a review on one of theirs I was thrilled!  I choose to review the Gumdrop Drop Tech Designer Series for the iPhone 5 in purple/pink.

The Drop Tech Designer Series case specifically conforms to the shape of the iPhone 5 and offers multi-layer protection, making it very tough and durable.  It has dual material construction for great shock absorption, and reinforced rubber bumpers on the corners for drop protection, it includes port covers and an integrated screen cover.  This case is very reasonably priced at $44.95, but right now they are on sale for only $22.45, now that is a great value. They have 4 colors to choose from, and you can get the Drop Tech Designer series, for the iPad, and iPad Mini as well.

The case comes in three pieces, and is very easy to put on, first fit the polycarbonate frame with built in screen protector over the front of the phone, then slip the camera flash ring into the silicone cover to protect the camera, and last slip the silicone cover over the back of the phone, it’s that simple, it takes less than a minute to do, and I didn't even break a nail doing it like I did with the last case I had. 

The silicone cover offers protection for the ports and controls, while still allowing easy access to them, it is very easy to open up to charge, the volume buttons, and home button are still easy to push.  The integrated screen protector offers great screen protection and does not interfere with the touch screen at all.  The case is very light and thin considering the protection it offers, the last iPhone case I had was very thick and heavy, so I am loving this one.  I haven’t had any issues with this case, it has held up great so far, I haven’t been brave enough to drop my phone on purpose to test the shock/drop protection on it, but it has been fine through my daily beatings.

 

I think it is safe to say that pretty much everyone has a smart phone or tablet, and we carry them all over, from work, school, travel, and just about everywhere else we go, so why not get the best protection for it.  No need to worry if you are not an Apple user, they offer cases for Samsung, Kindle, Google, and more.  If the Drop Tech Series isn't what you're looking for that's ok, they have many designs to choose from, I'm sure you will find one to fit your needs.  I think this is a great case and would highly recommend it, it is light, thin, and offers great protection at an affordable price.  This would make a great Christmas gift!
