Colortime Crafts Review

Think back to your childhood....did you love to color? I remember being so proud of myself when I would finish a project that I really loved. I bet you can remember where it goes too...the refrigerator of course! Nothing would make you happier than to see your picture proudly displayed for all to see...am I right? If you have a child that loves to color, why not "step your game up" and take their projects with you for the world to see! With Colortime Crafts, you can do just that!

Colortime Crafts has been giving children (and adults!) the opportunity to decorate their own reusable bags, t-shirts, bandanas, pillow cases, backpacks and more since 1990. Colortime Crafts is great for birthday parties, slumber parties, girl and boy scouts, and much more.

I was generously sent a reusable tote bag and three permanent fabric markers to decorate with Little Miss D! When I showed her our new project, her eyes lit up and she was so excited to be able to have her art project with her at all times, her first question to her mom was "can we take it to the grocery store!?" The reusable tote bag is made out of canvas so it is heavy duty and I'm sure would hold quite a bit of groceries! We were sent blue, yellow, and green permanent fabric markers to color the bag with!

Okay so lets be honest. When you purchase a craft kit- especially one with markers, 9 times out of 10 the markers are either dried up, or hardly work. Do you agree? That always happens to me and it is one of the most frustrating things ever. I have to say, when I opened up the package from Colortime Crafts I couldn't help but let out a sigh and hope that the markers actually worked. I practically jumped up and down as I colored the R in "reduce" and the ink came out perfectly. As I watched Little Miss D start coloring, all of the pens worked great!

Being a four year old, Little Miss D isn't the worlds greatest color-er, but the thick black outlining on the bag helped her stay in the lines as she decorated her new bag!

Overall Little Miss D and I had an amazing time decorating her reusable tote and I was so impressed with the quality of the fabric markers. Colortime Crafts is not only fun for the family, but it is also extremely affordable as well! If you were to purchase a reusable tote and three fabric markers to create the same project as we did, it would only cost you approximately $12! The markers come individually or in packs of six. Colortime Crafts also offers discounts for if you purchase many at a time for a party or scout troop!

Smart Bottoms Review & Giveaway

It's Day 26 of Kickin It off with Cloth from Thrifty Nifty Mommy Blogger Network!

Today's review and giveaway is for an AIO from Smart Bottoms!

Amanda from Open Hands is loving this diaper for her little girl, and it has become their go to   diaper! You can read all about it and enter to win one of your own by clicking here!

DIY Cloth Wipe Solution

One of the main reasons why people decide to use cloth diapers is to save money. By using cloth wipes and a homemade wipe solution you will be able to cut your diapering expenses almost completely in just a few simple steps! I have been searching for a while now for a cloth wipe solution that I liked, that didn't have to many ingredients, and that would leave Baby A completely clean! After testing out a few different recipes I decided to just take the ingredients from various recipes and combine them to make my own.

*Please take note that what works for me and Baby A, may not work for you child. Mommy's Craft Obsession is not responsible for any sensitivities that your child may have so please use this recipe at your own risk.

I have decided to show you how to make just a small mason jar sized amount of the solution to encourage you to try it out for a handful of diaper changes to make sure that this recipe will work for your child's skin. Feel free to adjust the recipe accordingly.

What You Need:
A Clean, Empty Mason Jar (standard size, or adjust accordingly)
Olive Oil
Baby Body Wash
Tea Tree Oil
Water
Witch Hazel

Start by pouring approximately an inch of witch hazel into your mason jar! You will want no more than 1/4 of the mason jar filled as it is recommended to use a 3:1 ratio of water to witch hazel.

Next pour in about a 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil, 2-4 drops of tea tree oil (tea tree oil has antibacterial and antifungal properties, however for the solution we are mainly using it for scent, so feel free to use this option out), and 2 "squirts" of baby body wash.

Next, fill the remainder of the mason jar with water and shake it up! It's that simple!

Because the olive oil will separate and float to the top of the water, you will want to make sure that you shake it before use. I recommend pouring the solution into a travel sized spray bottle, or even a perry bottle to put it onto your cloth wipe easier, however you can put solution on the wipe by simply placing the wipe over the mason jar and very slowly pouring onto the wipe. Regardless of how you put it on the wipe, your babies booty is sure to be squeaky clean when you are finished cleaning him (or her)!

*Please remember to use this recipe at your own risk, what works for my baby's skin may not work for yours.

Ladybug on a Pug Review & Giveaway!

It's now day 25 of the Kickin' It Off With Cloth event and we have sure been talking a lot about cloth diapers but not much has been said about the wipes? It seems only natural that cloth diapers be paired with cloth wipes but there are still a lot of people out there who use disposable wipes. I will admit, I am one of them. Sort of. I am what I like to refer to as a "part time cloth wipe-r". For the most part, we are a disposable wipe using household. Our main reason for using disposable wipes is because we do not use a diaper sprayer, and we do not use our diaper liners anymore, so that is our way of cleaning the mess. Until I came into contact with the wonderful cloth wipe shop Ladybug on a Pug (cutest name ever, right?), I had only played around with the idea of cloth wipes, but thanks to Jamie, the wonderful shop owner, I can now say that I use cloth wipes at least once daily!

You may be wondering what I use my cloth wipes for if I don't use them all of the time. Well, if Baby A has a particularly messy diaper, I will use my homemade wipe solution (see tomorrow's post for recipe) and a cloth wipe to clean him up after I have already cleaned him with disposable wipes. I know that it is double doing the job, but I feel like he gets a lot cleaner and it helps avoid any sort of diaper irritation!

Ladybug on a Pug generously sent me a handful of cloth wipes to try out and review for you! The first two things that I noticed about these cloth wipes was how big they were and how soft they were! Some disposable wipes on the market just feel like sandpaper, I can't imagine wiping Baby A's booty with them! The disposable wipes I do use are Huggies Naturals so they are on the softer side, but now that I've started part time using cloth wipes, I'm talking myself into using them all of the time. The wipes are just so much softer for baby's skin! When Ladybug on a Pug sends them to you, they were even tied with a bow so you could give them as a gift!

Ladybug on a Pug's cloth wipes measure 8"X8" and are made from flannel (the printed tops) and sherpa. The wipes are made boy, girl, and gender neutral prints so you can buy them specifically for your little prince or princess, or give them as a gift to an expectant mother who is keeping the gender a surprise! Out of all of the ones I received I have to say that the rock star monsters (top row, first one on the left).

The cloth wipes are backed with 90% cotton sherpa that are either "white" or "natural" depending on what matches best with the flannel being used. The wipes also come with a flannel backing as well making them thinner.

I was extremely pleased to see that the cloth wipes (with the sherpa backing) were super absorbent and cleaned up Baby A perfectly! I was able to put some wipe solution on the cloth wipe and clean up Baby A without feeling any moisture on my hand.

When I am finished cleaning Baby A I simply fold the wipe in half, grab the diaper, and go throw it into our diaper pail! It really doesn't get any easier than using a cloth wipe to clean your little one and when you factor in the amount of money you will be saving it is very well worth it!

Aside from using Ladybug on a Pug's cloth wipes as wipes, I also have been using the flannel backed wipes as tissues for Baby A! He was struck with a bad case of teething and a cold simultaneously and the cloth wipes have been a miracle with cleaning up his nose! The cloth wipes are even big enough for toddlers to use to wipe their hands, and they can even be used around the house as towels to clean up after meals and snacks!

I absolutely adore the wipes from Ladybug on a Pug, they are so multifunctional and are extremely absorbent  Even if you can only "part time cloth wipe" like I do, I still recommend you pick up at least a six pack from Ladybug on a Pug!

Cherry Blossom Babies Review & Giveaway!

So I know I've said it a million and one times, but when it comes to cloth diapers, I tend to be a creature of habit. Every single one of our diapers are pocket diapers. Yes, I know, there are SO many different types of diapers out there, so why haven't we tried them? Because I'm a chicken. There. I said it. Thanks to Cherry  Blossom Babies, I am now able to say that I have tried a different type of diaper! Baby A now is the proud wearer or an AI2 (All in Two).

I have been in contact with Cherry Blossom Babies for a few months now and I can honestly say that the owner, Kelly, is a wonderful woman to work with. If you have been an MCO reader for a few months you may remember that Cherry Blossom Babies sponsored two giveaways during MCO's Holiday Giveaway Extravaganza! Until now I have not had the opportunity to try one of her diapers but now that I have, I'm hooked. I love them so much that I had to get my hands on another and it is now in the mail on it's way to me!

For this review, Cherry Blossom Babies generously sent me a one size, all in two, shark diaper. I couldn't wait to prep the diaper and stick Baby A in it!

The Snaps

When you purchase a diaper from Cherry Blossom Babies you have the option of a 100% Bamboo Liner or a Bamboo Velour Hemp Cotton Blend. You also have the option of your liner to snap in, or lay in. For this specific diaper I requested that the liner be 100% Bamboo and snap in. Being only accustomed to pocket diapers, I had never seen a diaper that had the liner right inside of it, so naturally I was intrigued  I have to say, I LOVE it! The liner is so incredibly soft and the inside lining of the diaper itself is fleecy and comfortable, so I know Baby A will be happy while wearing it.

Liner folded, ready for Baby A to wear

Liner unfolded

Snap on the diaper, snap on the liner!
(please excuse the horrible lighting!)

My favorite feature of the diaper is perhaps the simplest as well. Cherry Blossom Babies offers snap covers for the third snaps so that your little ones hips are protected from the hard snap and indentations that will appear when your little one wears it. Literally all that you do is snap the snap cover onto the snap of your choice and you're done! Such a simple element to the diaper, yet it makes all the difference in the world!

Overall I highly recommend Cherry Blossom Babies to anyone who cloth diapers or is thinking about cloth diapering. Baby A was not only comfortable in his diaper but he also stayed dry and had no indentations from the snaps! I am very please with this diaper and at this time I have no complaints! Isn't Baby A the cutest in his sharky diaper?!

To Purchase: Go to Cherry Blossom Babies shop or contact them via Facebook to create a custom!
