Ladybug on a Pug Review & Giveaway!

It's now day 25 of the Kickin' It Off With Cloth event and we have sure been talking a lot about cloth diapers but not much has been said about the wipes? It seems only natural that cloth diapers be paired with cloth wipes but there are still a lot of people out there who use disposable wipes. I will admit, I am one of them. Sort of. I am what I like to refer to as a "part time cloth wipe-r". For the most part, we are a disposable wipe using household. Our main reason for using disposable wipes is because we do not use a diaper sprayer, and we do not use our diaper liners anymore, so that is our way of cleaning the mess. Until I came into contact with the wonderful cloth wipe shop Ladybug on a Pug (cutest name ever, right?), I had only played around with the idea of cloth wipes, but thanks to Jamie, the wonderful shop owner, I can now say that I use cloth wipes at least once daily!

You may be wondering what I use my cloth wipes for if I don't use them all of the time. Well, if Baby A has a particularly messy diaper, I will use my homemade wipe solution (see tomorrow's post for recipe) and a cloth wipe to clean him up after I have already cleaned him with disposable wipes. I know that it is double doing the job, but I feel like he gets a lot cleaner and it helps avoid any sort of diaper irritation!

Ladybug on a Pug generously sent me a handful of cloth wipes to try out and review for you! The first two things that I noticed about these cloth wipes was how big they were and how soft they were! Some disposable wipes on the market just feel like sandpaper, I can't imagine wiping Baby A's booty with them! The disposable wipes I do use are Huggies Naturals so they are on the softer side, but now that I've started part time using cloth wipes, I'm talking myself into using them all of the time. The wipes are just so much softer for baby's skin! When Ladybug on a Pug sends them to you, they were even tied with a bow so you could give them as a gift!

Ladybug on a Pug's cloth wipes measure 8"X8" and are made from flannel (the printed tops) and sherpa. The wipes are made boy, girl, and gender neutral prints so you can buy them specifically for your little prince or princess, or give them as a gift to an expectant mother who is keeping the gender a surprise! Out of all of the ones I received I have to say that the rock star monsters (top row, first one on the left).

The cloth wipes are backed with 90% cotton sherpa that are either "white" or "natural" depending on what matches best with the flannel being used. The wipes also come with a flannel backing as well making them thinner.

I was extremely pleased to see that the cloth wipes (with the sherpa backing) were super absorbent and cleaned up Baby A perfectly! I was able to put some wipe solution on the cloth wipe and clean up Baby A without feeling any moisture on my hand.

When I am finished cleaning Baby A I simply fold the wipe in half, grab the diaper, and go throw it into our diaper pail! It really doesn't get any easier than using a cloth wipe to clean your little one and when you factor in the amount of money you will be saving it is very well worth it!

Aside from using Ladybug on a Pug's cloth wipes as wipes, I also have been using the flannel backed wipes as tissues for Baby A! He was struck with a bad case of teething and a cold simultaneously and the cloth wipes have been a miracle with cleaning up his nose! The cloth wipes are even big enough for toddlers to use to wipe their hands, and they can even be used around the house as towels to clean up after meals and snacks!

I absolutely adore the wipes from Ladybug on a Pug, they are so multifunctional and are extremely absorbent  Even if you can only "part time cloth wipe" like I do, I still recommend you pick up at least a six pack from Ladybug on a Pug!

  1. I started using cloth wipes a few months ago (about 3-4 months after I started to cloth diaper). I then decided to make some wipes from old flannel receiving blankets. These ones are nice because they have the terry on the back (great poop gripper). I have a hard time grabbing the poo with the smooth flannel.

  8. I don't use cloth wipes yet because I still have a huge box of disposables, but once those are gone I plan on switching to cloth everything!

  9. I also don't have a diaper sprayer nor liners. I have a few cloth liners but I'm just too lazy/busy to put those on! I've had some cloth wipes for a while- some Grovia ones I got on Amazon and some Charlie Banana that I got on clearance at Target. I really like the Charlie Banana and these sound similar. I hadn't been using the wipes too much but recently I realized that if I wiped the poo off with a cloth wipe (off butt and diaper) it was easy to flush! Here I'd been wasting toilet paper the entire time! I'm also working on making the switch over to cloth because we're running out of disposable wipes and there's no money in the budget right now for disposables. I'm looking forward to seeing your wipes solution recipe!
