It began in 1965 when Luella Connelly, a teacher of 17 years, wanted to find something that taught students beyond what textbooks did, to reinforce skills in a creative, non-threatening format.  What started as a simple idea to help children learn turned into a company that Luella and her husband ran until their retirement in 1998.  Their son Jim Connelly is now the president of the company and it has continued to grow and be at the forefront of the educational market because the company’s products are developed by teachers and educators who understand firsthand what resources parents and teachers need to help children learn.

When Creative Teaching Press contacted us to review Easy Daysies Starter Kit and Add-On Packs for our Holiday Gift Guide I was really excited about it!  Little Miss just started kindergarten this year so I thought it would be a great time to teach her how important schedules and routines are with this fun new tool that's made for kids.  I received 2 Easy Daysies Every Day Starter Kits and 3 Add-On Packs for review.

The Easy Daysies Every Day Starter Kit is a magnetic schedule designed just for kids.  The kit includes 18 easy daysies magnets, 1 double-sided fold and go magnet board, a wipe-off marker, and a magnet storage bag.  The magnet board has two sides, one with a tree and sun and the other with a flower and butterfly, each side has a spot to write the child's name, a to do side and a done side.  You can chose to put the magnets on the to do side and move them over to the done side as they are completed, or you can just put the magnets down the middle of the board and have your child show you what tasks they have completed.  Each magnet has a picture and the word of the task to allow kids that are not reading yet to use it, this has been great for Little Miss, who is just starting to read if she can't sound out the word on her own she can look at the picture to help her out.

They offer three add-on packs that you can use to mix and match to create your child's perfect routine.  Add-On Pack Get Dressed and Bathroom Routine includes 18 Easy Daysies Magnets, this one is going to be great for Baby C as soon as we start potty training, which is coming very soon!  Add-On Pack Chores and Special Times includes 21 Easy Daysies Magnets, and Add-On Pack Family and Extracurricular Activities includes 18 Easy Daysies Magnets, this set is great to help children remember what day they have a certain sport or activity.  In each Add-on Pack two or three magnets are left blank.  With the starter kit and the add-on packs Easy Daysies has just about everything covered, but if you find something that's not already on a magnet the blank ones are great for you to personalize with the wipe-off marker.

The magnetic schedule has been great for Little Miss, she really enjoys knowing exactly what she has to do next without asking me, it has made her more independent and is making our life a little easier every day.  When we first started using the magnetic schedule we started off slow, adding just a few things from her morning routine until she got the hang of it and slowly started adding more.  I didn't want to overwhelm her and make her feel like she had to many things to do before she got the hang of it.  She is at the point now that we use the flower and butterfly side of the board for her morning routine and the tree and sun side for her after school routine.  She has even been making sure she adds the extracurricular activities to the day when needed, which is helping her keep track of what day of the week it is.

Creative Teaching Press has a huge selection of teaching tools for your children including books, workbooks, digital learning, and worksheets.  I would really recommend this product for every child, it is important for kids to have a routine that they know; it makes them feel more confident, independent, and makes your life a little easier when they know what they should be doing.  This would be a great gift for your children to find under the Christmas tree this year!

Congrats to Andrea Centi, Allison Toler, Maggie Balboa, Shannon Stubbs, and Angela Hendricks!

  3. What a neat packet. We use schedules as well in our day, but just plain black and white schedules I printed, these kits look so much nicer and engaging for the children. Thanks for sharing your review.
