Tender Tushies Review & Giveaway

When it comes to cloth diapers, I tend to be pretty set in my ways. I started using bumGenius 4.0's and the Flip hybrid system and pretty much turned my nose up at brands that I wasn't familiar with. Yes, I was a diaper snob. The one thing that I didn't like about the diapers that I had was that they were weren't made in fun prints! I've longed for a diaper that was fun but I had no idea where to look for one. A simple Google search brought up tons and tons of diaper websites from companies and work at home moms and I was just so overwhelmed. I ended my search empty handed and chalked it up as "well, I have plenty of diapers anyway."

I first heard about Tender Tushies when I participated in the New Year, New Fluff Stash Event this last December and I immediately fell in love with all of their adorable diapers. There were tons of prints, colors, and fabrics. The possibilities were endless. I was over the moon when they were on board to participate in the Kickin It Off With Cloth Event, I couldn't wait to share their diapers with you!

Tender Tushies is a cloth diaper company based out of British Colombia, Canada and was created in 2009 by Rachelle, a busy mom of three! She works hard to bring affordable cloth diapers to parents without having to sacrifice the quality. Rachelle wanted to make her diapers not only packed full of quality and affordability, but convenient as well. All diapers are of course made to withstand daily use, be machine washed and dried, and to grow with your child. Prior to selling her diapers, Rachelle had many different moms try out styles and variations of diapers until she was confident that Tender Tushies was "the perfect diaper".

Tender Tushies generously sent me a Rescue Cars diaper from their "elite collection", the the first thing that I noticed was it's satin fabric. Baby A would be diapered in style thanks to Tender Tushies! Looking the diaper over I was more than impressed with it's quality and I absolutely adored how soft the inside of the diaper was. I was very excited to have received the Rescue Cars diaper, we have many family members in the public safety field so it fitting to have Baby A "represent" our family through his diaper! The diaper is one size (9-35 pounds) and has snap closures.

The Rescue Cars diaper that I received is a pocket diaper, which is fantastic since that is the the type of diaper that I am accustomed to. The diaper came with one large microfiber insert, and I had almost forgotten how soft those inserts are before they've been used a bunch! What I love about having pocket diapers is that you can layer them with more inserts if needed. If your child is a heavy wetter, or sleeps through the night and needs extra absorbency, you can easily add an extra insert or two to accommodate your child's needs. If you're using the diaper as what I would call a filler (the diaper between bath time and bed time), or for just a short amount of time you can use one insert for a thinner less bulky diaper.

Let's talk about snaps. I absolutely hate, yes hate, diapers that have velcro. The velcro never holds up, if your child is anything like mine they will easily pull the diaper open, and when the velcro does start to wear down and become less adhesive, the diaper will undo itself and cause leaks and messes. Trust me, it's not fun. I was so excited and relieved to see that the diaper I received was not a velcro diaper. Hallelujah. This diaper was very unique compared to the bumGenius 4.0's that I'm use to in the way that it had an extra snap for protection, a "thigh snap" as it is referred to on the Tender Tushies website. This extra snap is genius. It makes the diaper just a little bit snugger to help with leaks when your little one is on the go.

I absolutely love my Tender Tushies diaper and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for quality affordable diapers for their little one. I have had absolutely no problems with leaks, I haven't had any staining thus far (that may be more coincidence, but anyone who cloth diapers knows that no stains is a wonderful thing!) and after four washes the inside still remains as soft as it was when it arrived.

Isn't Baby A just adorable in his Tender Tushies?!
