Strolling Into Spring Day 20: Kiddy USA City'n Move Review & GIVEAWAY

It's Day 20 of Strolling Into Spring and today I am so excited to bring you a stroller review and giveaway!!! If you're in the market for a stroller that will fit comfortably in your trunk, is not too heavy, but still has amazing features that are comparable to your full size stroller that you're tired of lugging around, then read on my friends, the Kiddy USA City'n Move could be the stroller for you!

* I received a complementary Kiddy USA City'n Move stroller in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions during this review*

Have you heard of the brand Kiddy? Kiddy is a multi-award winning,
family owned company based out of Germany, who just recently started their United States label, Kiddy USA. With over forty years of experience working in the automobile and juvenile product industry and being parents themselves, the owners of Kiddy prides themselves on the safety, health, and comfort of the child while they are utilizing their products. Kiddy designs their products to make car rides and outings more enjoyable for both mom and baby by offering various levels of adjustment and comfort that promote the healthy development of healthy backs!

Today I am excited to share with you my thoughts and opinions on Kiddy's City'n Move stroller! The City'n Move is offered in seven (7) gorgeous colors and has so many features that make this one of the best strollers I have had the opportunity of 'test driving'. The City'n Move stroller is also certified by the Aktion Gesunder Rucken Campaign for Healthy Backs, making this one of the best strollers for your child's back development!

I'd like to start off by saying that I love the City'n Move more than I love my Maxi Cosi Foray, and y'all know that I love that stroller to pieces! The City'n Move offers a ton of amazing features that I honestly wouldn't have even of thought to include had I been the one designing it. Kiddy USA generously let me choose the color of City'n Move that I would enjoy the best and I went with Hawaii, which is a beautiful and vibrant blue. I was extremely tempted by the Phantom (black) but I knew that with the harsh Arizona summer sun, Baby A would be happier in a blue stroller! When the stroller arrived I was so excited to rip into the box and get it set up! I was a little nervous about the set up and if I would need help, but I was pleased to see that there really wasn't much of a set up process at all, in fact it only took me about 5 minutes to get the stroller set up and ready to go.

If you need to enlarge any of the photos in this review simply click on the photo.

Let's dive right in, shall we? The City'n Move is sleek and light weight at approximately 21 pounds, making this stroller extremely easy to move in and out of your vehicle. The City'n Move can accommodate a child up to 55 pounds in the seat, and up to 28 pounds in an infant carrier (yep, this stroller converts to a travel system! Read more about it further into the review). This stroller is classified as an umbrella stroller because of its simple and space saving fold and it's convenient portability.

When you're ready to use your City'n Move the unfold process is quick and easy, and can even be done with one hand if needed! Simply unlatch the stroller by pulling outward on the locking hook and lightly wiggle the stroller until the front wheels are touching the ground.

Once the front wheels are on the ground you will want to completely open up the fold so that you can put your little one in it and be on your way. To fully open the City'n Move you simply step on the folding lever and push down until you hear and feel it pop into place.

Once your stroller is unfolded and ready to go, you may choose to add the bumper bar so that your little one can hang onto it or you can attach toys, a sippy cup strap, or even a universal snack try. To attach the bumper bar you simply click it into the attachment socket (as shown in the bottom row, left photo below). You will hear and feel it lock into place. To release and un-attach the bumper bar you very simply push the release button on each side located directly behind the bumper bar attachment and pull the bumper bar off. Personally, I am a huge fan of bumper bars, Baby A loves to hold onto them and even put his feet up and lounge! A feature of the City'n Move bumper bar that I absolutely love is that you can fold it up into the stroller allowing you to leave it attached even when the stroller is folded and being stored. Baby A has created a fun game as well where he likes to duck under the bumper bar and slide off of the stroller (with my help of course) to get out.

All parents have different viewpoints on how they like the wheels of their stroller to roll, some like to have their front wheels swivel while other parents would rather have their wheels roll straight. Kiddy gives parents both options on the front wheels of the City'n Move by adding an optional wheel lock to lock the wheels in place. Simply push down on the wheel lock and straighten the wheels with the locking mechanism facing forwards and your wheels are locked in place! To unlock the wheels all you have to do is push the wheel lock up and you're ready to swivel!

The back wheels also lock into place with a breaking system that is even easier to lock than the front wheels are! All you have to do to lock the back wheels is gently step on one of the breaks (either side) and it pushes the lock into place. When you're ready to start strolling again just push up on the breaking mechanism until it pops into unlock and be on your way.

Kiddy did a wonderful job at adding features to this stroller that will allow you to adjust as your child grows, such as making the foot rest adjustable. If your child is a toddler you can choose to leave the foot rest out straight for added comfort since I would imagine that they're not big enough for their knees to bend at the footrest. If you have a little one around 6 months of age you can position the foot rest so that it tilts upward giving them a little more enclosure while they are riding in the stroller. Lastly, if you have a child who is not quite a toddler but still fits the weight limit on the City'n Move, you are able to tilt the foot rest downward to accommodate their longer legs and allow them to be more comfortable.

Lets take a second to talk about the 5 point harness on the City'n Move. Kiddy really took their time with including a 5 point harness that would be comfortable for every child by adding a few great features to the design. All of the straps are adjustable so that you can customize it to your child's size and adjust appropriately with their growth. Kiddy also made the shoulder straps removable with a sturdy clip for easy re-threading of the straps to add height and even to remove for older kiddo's who may feel too restrained with a full 5 point harness. The harness is sturdy yet comfortable if your child will be in their stroller for a long outing. The shoulder straps include padded strap covers to protect their little necks.

One of my favorite features of the City'n Move is the canopy. Not only is it the biggest canopy I have come across on a stroller, but it is also offers UV80 protection! The canopy easily locks and unlocks into place and offers many levels of protection in the sun depending on how far you open it. The City'n Move canopy unhooks for extra canopy length and offers two fold out flaps to add additional front coverage. You can almost completely enclose your child down to the bumper bar which is amazing if you are strolling toward the sun, and also comes extremely in handy when you're at a store and they are in need of a nap! Even if they are completely enclosed you can keep your watchful eye on them with the peek a boo window located at the top of the canopy.

Uh oh! Did someone fall asleep in their stroller? Are they in desperate need of a nap? No problem! The City'n Move offers a recline position that is easily adjustable by just pulling upward on the recline lever. You can even do it with one finger! I would like to mention that the stroller includes a safety hood which is designed to add extra protection and cushion for your child in the event of the stroller tipping, which snaps and velcro's onto the back of the seat. Photo 4 shows you what the seat looks like in a reclined position with the safety hood unattached. When your little one is catching some ZZZ's rest assured that they are enclosed and comfortable with the safety hood surrounding the back of the stroller! The recline feature is great and very comfortable for your little one to rest in. My only request for Kiddy is to have it recline just a little further! If your child wakes up from their nap or is refusing to take one, literally all you do to put their seat back into an upright position is give it a gentle push forward and you will hear it click into place!

My favorite feature of the City'n Move is that it has mesh side panels on the seat (1). Living in Arizona, this is a feature that I am so thankful for! I can't tell you how often I take Baby A out of his stroller and he is a big ball of sweat. The mesh side panels allow air to circulate, keeping your child cool. The City'n Move also has adjustable height slots for the straps to accommodate your child's height growth (2), simply re-thread the straps and you're finished!

Lets not forget about the moms and dads, we are the ones pushing the stroller after all! Taking parents into consideration, Kiddy designed the handle bars to be slightly curved and padded for a comfortable grip and easy steering (3 & 4). I was able to steer with one hand thanks to the slight curve of the handlebar. As I mentioned above, the canopy extends for extra length by unhooking a small latch located at the top of the canopy (5). Last but certainly not least, the City'n Move has a basket beneath the stroller for convenient storage (6)! The basket is roomy and you could easily store shopping bags, blankets, sweat shirts, or whatever else you may need to bring with you! Unfortunately it is not large enough for a diaper bag due to the umbrella mechanism of crossed bars above the basket, but it is certainly large enough for a purse or tote bag with essentials.

Also keeping parents in mind, Kiddy designed the City'n Move to include a removable cup holder for a beverage while out strolling with your little one! The cup holder can be attached on either side of the stroller depending on if you prefer the left to the right or vise versa.

I mentioned above the that City'n Move is classified as an umbrella stroller due to the way that it folds, and the weight. What makes this 'umbrella stroller' unique is that you can attach an infant car seat and turn this stroller into a travel system. The City'n Move comes with infant adapter holders that attach easily onto the sides of the stroller so all you need to do is attach your infant's car seat adapter frame and your are able to click in the car seat and go! The infant adapter is compatible with Graco, Chicco, Maxi Cosi, and Peg Perego car seats! The only downside to the infant adapter holders is that you do have to already have or purchase the actual adapter frame separately, but as a consumer I understand that all four of the car seats that it is compatible with have different shapes making individual adapter frames necessary for separate purchasing. The fact that this stroller can even transform into a travel system is amazing! Kudos to Kiddy for thinking to add this awesome feature!

There are many strollers on the market that look amazing and have phenomenal features, but are a complete pain in the neck to fold and get into the back of your car. I am pleased to say that while the Kiddy City'n Move is both an attractive stroller and is packed with phenomenal features, it is also a breeze to break down! Simply pull up on the folding handle (1 & 2), push down with your foot on the folding lever (3) and gentle give the stroller a little push downward into the folding position (4). When your stroller is completely folded the locking hook will latch and you are finished!

Moving the City'n Move in and out of your car or other storage location is simple with the handle located conveniently on the side of the stroller! Why lug around a stroller awkwardly in your arms when you can easily carry it with it's handle?

Kiddy recommends that you care for your City'n Move by periodically checking the chassis for loose screws,  rivets, and worn out or defective parts. Although Kiddy inspects their products fully during the manufacturing process, it is always a good idea to keep a watchful eye on all products that you use with your child. The seat cover and the belt pads of the City'n Move are machine washable with mild detergent and on a delicate cycle and the canopy is hand washable! Kiddy encourages you to break out the clothes pins for natural air drying as the City'n Move seat cover, belt pads, and canopy are not recommended for the dryer.

You may be wondering, if I had to give you my favorite features on this stroller, what would they be? My top five favorite features are as follows:

  1. The HUGE canopy with UV80 Protection
  2. The mesh side paneling on the seat
  3. It's easy to pop open, and easy to close
  4. It's light weight and doesn't kill my back to get in and out of the truck of my car (and the fact that it fits in the trunk of my car and still gives me a ton of space for groceries, shopping bags, picnic supplies, etc - I drive an '05 Accord)
  5. It's easy to recline and even easier to get it back into an upright position

The City'n Move has so many features that I would look for in a full size stroller with the convenience and portability of an umbrella stroller.

  89. I won their click n move 3 last year and it is AWESOME!! I love their products. There is such a difference between our travel system that we got from our baby shower (graco) and their products. The first time we went on our walk with the click n move 3...it was night and day. My husband and I were no longer going "your turn to push" lol Our son was 32lbs at the time so having shocks on a very uneven road def helped. I had to call their customer service about moving the shoulder straps and they were SOOO nice and helpful! I would def get more of their products if I could afford it :) It would even be nice to have this one for our shopping trips since it is smaller than the click n move 3.
